Summer Lovers

a short story

Gay couple

Once, in a small coastal town, two young people met one beautiful summer day. They were both on vacation with their families, and they happened to cross paths at the local ice cream parlor. They struck up a conversation over their shared love of rocky road ice cream and discovered that they both loved to spend their days at the beach.

As the weeks went by, the two young people began to spend more and more time together. They explored the town, went on long walks along the shoreline, and watched the sun set over the ocean. They laughed and joked and shared their hopes and dreams with one another.

Despite knowing that their time together was limited, the two summer lovers fell deeply in love. They promised to stay in touch and to see each other again the following summer. And as the season drew to a close, they shared one last kiss under the stars.

Over the next year, the two lovers kept in touch via phone calls, texts, and letters. They shared their triumphs and challenges, their hopes and fears. They knew that they were meant to be together, and they counted down the days until they could be reunited.

Finally, the next summer arrived, and the two lovers returned to their beloved coastal town. They ran into each other on the beach, and it was as if no time had passed at all. They spent their days swimming, surfing, and enjoying the sunshine. And at night, they cuddled together under the stars, whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears.

As the summer drew to a close once again, the two lovers knew that they could not bear to be apart for another year. So they made a plan to stay together, and they moved to the coastal town permanently. They got jobs, found a place to live, and built a life together.

Years went by, and the two summer lovers grew old together. They still spent their days at the beach, but now they did so holding hands and reminiscing about the memories they had made over the years. And as they watched the sunset over the ocean one last time, they knew that they had been blessed to have found each other, and to have spent a lifetime together as summer lovers.
