From The Emerald City

  From The Emerald City

My Dear 'OZ'ians,

I have decided to post some questions that were asked about The Wizard or about 'OZ' over the last year or so, I hope you enjoy this and get answers to your unasked questions.

Maybelle J writes: I sent an email to The Love Doctor and he responded with an answer I didn't like or agree with, can you talk to him if I send you an email?

The Wizard: I don't govern what or how The Love Doctor advises people. Just email him back and ask him to reconsider his advice. Or ask another person for a second opinion.

Jeffery T. writes: How many posts have you written?

The Wizard: As of today, I have made 26,285 posts on 'OZ'.

Darren E. writes: Do you ever repost blog posts? I swear I get a feeling of deja-vu sometimes.

The Wizard: Yes I do repost popular posts, but for the most part I only post them once.

Jill S. writes: I want to look at a post I read on your blog, but can't remember the date to see it again. Is there a secret to looking for previous posts?

The Wizard: Of course! On the left hand side of 'OZ', you will find a Search box. Just enter the topic or the content and it should show up in the main window.

Mary H. writes: How many people read 'OZ'?

The Wizard: It fluctuates, usually around 1400-1900 visitors/week, (sometimes over 4000!!).

Sarah H. writes: How long have you been posting on your blog?

The Wizard: I started posting around March of 2004.

Jim B. writes: How do you find the time to make so many posts on 'OZ'?

The Wizard: Takes very little time, about 2 hours a week to do 3 posts a day.

Brian writes: Have you ever been served a copyright violation or had to pay a fine for copyright?

The Wizard: Yes, once or twice and no, I have not been fined. If I am taken to task on copyright, I will immediately remove the offending picture or post. That has been good enough for them as I am not making any money from 'OZ' - The 'Other' Side of the Rainbow, like I have said in the past, it costs me money to produce my blog. Sometimes I get into trouble when people send me content via email with no sources. As far as my posting goes, I try to credit the original content producer or post just a part of an article with a link to the full one. Biggest issue is the use of pictures and photos, quite often I am not able to find the originator. Fingers crossed on that one.

Cam D. writes: I would like to post or link a blog post to put on facebook, is there a way to do this?

The Wizard: Yes. At the end of each post is a graphic to share the post with facebook, Blogger, Twitter, GMAIL and Pinterest. Just click on the icon of your choice. You may also click on the envelope icon under the post to email with your default email program.

Judy S. writes: What is your motivation and why do you do this blog?

The Wizard: I like the process and to have my slice of the web out there. I like the fact that what I do and the fact it interests other people to visit and read 'OZ'.  However, even if i get no visitors I would still likely post it anyways.

Greg D. writes: Are you planning on publishing 'OZ' forever?

The Wizard: Well, to tell you the truth, it all depends upon Google and their image hosting policies. Currently there is no limit in the number of pictures that can be hosted on Google's servers (they own Blogger). If they decide to charge for used storage, I may continue if it's priced favourably, remember, I don't make any money from 'OZ" and in fact it costs me money to pay to have the individual web pages hosted and stored, the cost of the othersideoz.com domain, etc. If however they just stop hosting images altogether, then I will have to do a hard reset on the blog and start posting from scratch. It would take too long to replace and restore images that would be gone after something like that. I am still working on the 'fixing' and reuploading images I hosted on Photobucket that were lost, so.. we will have to see.

So I hope this answers any questions you may have about 'OZ' - The 'Other' Side of the Rainbow. If you have any more questions, email me, make a comment or click on the "Contribute" image.
