Luca Director Says Film Is About the 'Pre-Romance' Time in Boys' Lives

Despite the queer themes fans are seeing, the director behind
Disney/Pixar's latest animated film says it isn't a budding gay romance.

People are so desperate to plant a queer flag in any content they can that they honestly do a disservice to the movement.

For a bunch of reasons, but honestly only for two major ones:

1) Fraternal, Sororal, or any non gender specific platonic love exists. Gay/bi/queer people exist too (obviously), but being unable to see two guys actually CARE about each other without going "OMG they must be GAY!!!" just sorta perpetuates toxic masculinity by furthering a social opinion that "Guys can't show emotion for another person unless they want to DO them." Guys, and girls, can care about another person, can care about them a LOT, can even LOVE another person... without any manner of physical or sexual attraction entering into the mix. Without 'sex' or even 'romance' being even a factor.

2) Queer visibility is important, but the movement seems to be simultaneously trying to 'normalize' lgbt relationships AND make any mention of them out to be something super important, brave, and special. Those thoughts are counter productive. Some people might need to self reflect on how they want the world to ACTUALLY view LGBT people, but if they really and honestly want such people and relationships to be considered 'normal', then step one is to stop making such a big deal out of it.

Step 2 is tied to that: If there's a gay character in a show or movie or something, that doesn't need to be their entire plot or backstory. It should be just one random fact about who and what they are that MIGHT NOT EVEN COME UP if romance is not part of their plot. It should be as normal and innocuous as any other facet of their personality.
