Animals... Just Animals...

Animals…

“People” forget… they are essentially animals. We are mammals. We, like all animals have urges, instincts and patterns. I find it humorous  that I, an animal, has to either pretend to my self that I don’t kill animals. I eat of animals, animal matter and clothe myself with animals…

To go into a McDonald’s and order a Quarter Pounder, and don’t think twice about it. Its cow, man! (At least they profess it to be…) Interestingly, we call dead cow, prepared for consumption as beef. Why not call it what it is… cow? It’s because I, like other members of my animal species, feel we need to shield other human beings from being animals. A wolf does not kill and eat an animal and think. “I ate beef.” It simply eats what its instincts tell it to.

animal power!

People have told me many things about Human beings. My favourite is monogamy. This is something I believe in and I believe that being faithful to your partner, is ultimately the right thing to do. It is not however how an animal generally behaves. They don’t ‘think’ about killing and eating an animal.. they just do it. We call them savage. Really? Is that because they don’t get their meat all prepared and in a nice looking package? For shame that we figure ourselves somewhere above other animals, when all that truly happens is that the hunting and killing is done by others, or worse yet that we have other raise carbon copies of the animals we eat and call it the science of food. Those we put in place to take charge of something so simple as food, who in turn transmogrify the DNA in said food, so that we can get more of what we want out of the animal in question. I think that’s scary.

In regards to another instinct all animals have is procreation. This one’s fun. So one of the more basal instincts animals have is to make more of us and thus ensure the survival of our species. One rarely thinks about the reason we have sex, but more likely that we want to have sex. We aren't thinking of creating babies for the most part. This part matches up with our animal brothers and sisters. Bears do not think, “Hey I want to start a family.” They just follow their instincts. For the most part, animal males will try to have sex with as many females as possible, and that is hard wired into their brains. Human Beings have the same wiring. We suppress it though. I have been told that people are the only species which have pleasure in the act of copulation. Really? I have also been told that males will always seek out females when looking for a partner. Not so! There are stories of two male penguins mating and becoming a couple. Same with Humans.

Gay monkey orgy

Some males seek out other males, some females. Interesting! I can tell you that homosexual behaviour has been exhibited in almost every animal. But only Human Beings get ashamed of the fact that they are attracted to members of the same sex. An certainly no other animal practices the irrational fear called homophobia. There I've said it. Human Beings are totally irrational creatures. I am homosexual and since I figured that out, I have never looked back, but embraced my sexuality. I can also tell you that internalized and external homophobia just about killed me. No, I take responsibility of trying to commit suicide to get away from the pain. I can say... “It gets better.” and truly mean it. I have a partner of 11 years now, and I love him dearly. I would never change for anyone. I am gay and that's how I'll stay!

So there you have some miscellaneous ramblings of why I think we are closer to animals than just some separate species fattening up at the top of the food chain and destroying the natural resources...

Blessed Be! )O(
