John Travolta Finds Life's A Drag

(Boston, Massachusetts) John Travolta and Tom Cruise may not be of the same mold, after all. Yes. They are both devout Scientologists. They both are married to famous starlets. Both have been alleged at various times by the tabloids to be closet gays. And both command high salaries for their motion pictures. But the similarities may end there.

While Tom Cruise flies computer generated fighter jets in "Top Gun," John Travolta owns his own Boeing 707 and sits in the pilot's seat, flying himself almost anywhere he needs to go, even making a pit stop in Boston during the past year to promote one of his movies. "I love flying," says Travolta," whose 707 was parked at Logan International Airport, while he spent a couple of days at Boston's Four Seasons Hotel.

Travolta gained celebrity recognition first on television's "Welcome Back, Kotter." In the mid 1970s and early 80s, it was Travolta's swaying, slender hips that got the girls and gays gag, especially when he danced onto the big screen in "Saturday Night Fever," Grease" and "Staying Alive." After nearly three decades of mostly box office success, (we'll whisper the titles "Perfect," "Battlefield Earth," and "Lucky Numbers"), Travolta is poised to become one of 2007's most profitable movie stars. --more--
