The Danger of using "TAP" Debit cards

Debit Card

Tapping debit cards in Canada is generally considered safe, but there are some risks associated with this method of payment. The main risk is the potential for fraudulent activity if your card falls into the wrong hands.

If someone gains access to your debit card information, they can use it to make unauthorized purchases or withdrawals. This is why it is important to keep your card in a safe place and monitor your account regularly for any suspicious activity.

Another risk of tapping debit cards in Canada is the possibility of accidentally tapping the wrong card. If you have multiple cards in your wallet or purse, it can be easy to tap the wrong one by mistake. This can result in the wrong account being charged for the transaction.

To reduce the risks associated with tapping debit cards, it is important to follow basic security measures. These include keeping your card safe and secure, monitoring your account for any unauthorized activity, and reporting any suspicious transactions to your bank as soon as possible.

Tapping debit cards in Canada is a convenient and safe method of payment as long as proper security measures are taken.

The Wizard refuses to use TAP and TAP is NOT enabled on my cards. I don't need that kind of convenience as it comes with such high security risks. Your bank can turn that off. It literally takes seconds for someone to find your card and make TAP purchases (up to the limit per store or day)  literally before you even know the card is gone. You may not get the money back depending when you notify the bank. It also depends on how much you use your card. Using it a lot will easily be apparent to you if you lost or left it somewhere. The less you use your debit card the more likely there will be transactions on your bank account that were not made by you.
