Dear Love Doctor,

My girlfriend has a filthy habit. She smokes, She knows I don’t like it. Yest she continues. I don’t like the smell, or the way she tastes when we kiss. How do I get her to quit for me?

Dear Not,

First of all, you cannot get her to quit smoking “for you”. Smokers are highly addicted to nicotine and smoking cigarettes is one of the hardest drugs to quit. Speak to her about the reasons she should quit, such as:

1. her improved health
2. her improved impression on others
3. she’ll live longer with less health complications
4. she’ll save a boatload of moolah
5. feel free to write down your own benefits to HER

If you do this she may try to quit. Don’t get mad if she falls off the wagon, support her. She may just eventually be successful in quitting, but it is entirely up to her. Good luck!
