TOLKUCHKA BAZAAR
ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN
One of Central Asia's largest markets, the Tolkuchka Bazaar (also known as the Altyn Asyr Bazaar), has a history dating to the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road. In 2011, the legendary market moved to a new location just outside the capital city of Ashgabat to accommodate the increasing numbers of vendors who come here to sell everything from camels and local produce to carpets, for which the region has long been famous.
