This week, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced the launch of a $42 million initiative to provide better sanitation to the developing world. In short, the Foundation aims to reinvent the toilet.
Sylvia Mathews Burwell, president of the foundation's Global Development Programme, has called upon donors, governments, the private sector and NGOs to address the challenge, in a keynote at the AfricaSan Conference in Kigali.
