Dear Wizard of 'OZ',
I am wondering why the American Flag is reversed on the shoulders of the men fighting in Afghanistan? Also why are they green in color when their uniforms are beige?
Signed,
A Supporter of Our Troops
Dear Supporter,
I scoured the best of the Internet on this one*:
The reverse American flag is the name given to the American flag patch as it is designed for the U.S Armed Forces. Unlike the conventional flag which has the star field to the left of the flag, the army patch has the star field to the right.
Ordinarily one would consider this to be a desecration of the flag. But actually this is a law in the form of the Army Regulation 670-1 Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia. Under this regulation the proper way to wear the patch on a military uniform is for the star field to be placed on the right of the flag. This is meant to create an illusion of the flag blowing in the wind when the wearer moves forward. It can be worn on either shoulder. They are green because the only other military approved colour is full Colour - thus becoming a beacon for snipers.
Hope this helps.

Dear Wizard of 'OZ',
If Apple makes better computers as they are always saying on those MAC commercials, why don't more people have them?

I'm a PC
Dear PC,
LOADED question for the Wizard! I bet I will receive some comments on this. This represents MY opinion. While I have nothing against Apple or for that matter MAC's, they are just too overpriced for what you get. This is now especially true since they changed from the RISC based processor, rather than the new intel one. RISC based computes are much better at handling graphics, but there are many more applications out there for PC's. Thank Bill Gates for that. Windows, Office and the like has given Microsoft the lion's share of the market. Now Apple is trying to catch up, using the intel based ones. That however is also having the effect of MAC's getting viruses, which before were quite rare.
Hope this helps.

Dear Wizard of 'OZ',
I see by a few of your links on your web page are Wiccan in nature. Isn't Wicca a predominantly female religion? I mean aren't all Wiccan's witches? How can you be a witch if you are a guy?

Curious
Dear Curious,
I think you are getting confused. Not all Witches are Wiccans, but all Wiccan's are witches. I am a witch. A gay male witch and that fits quite nicely with the honouring of the Feminine Divine. However, even in Wicca, there is usually a ying/yang relationship with the duality of deities. One female, the other male, thus balance is achieved. For the record, I honour The Goddess Isis and God Ra - which for me join together creating The One or The All (This is the same God I believed in when I was raised Roman Catholic). Please note that the term "Warlock" to describe a male witch is erroneous. At least as far as I am concerned. For more info visit "The Cauldron - A Pagan Forum" for more on the subject.
Hope this helps.

Not all Wiccans can be considered Witches as some just practice the religious aspect and do not Work Magick.
of course some may feel that segregation is invalid but that's ok
