Pumice comes from volcanic ash.
Pumice is a volcanic glass that has rapidly cooled from a nearly liquid state to a solid without having time to crystallize. When the pumice becomes a solid, it quickly releases its vapors and becomes a porous, abrasive rock. Pumice has long been used as a scouring tool and is sold to help remove calluses. The dome of the Pantheon in Rome was made out of concrete mixed with pumice from Mount Vesuvius.
