The cinema industry is predicting a boom in 3D films.
The number of 3D screens around the world is expected to double in the next two months and quadruple by the end of the year.
Studios are currently investing hundreds of millions of dollars in new digital 3D technology, reports Variety.com
Forthcoming movies which will have 3D versions include Meet the Robinsons and Beowulf while George Lucas is planning to re-release the Star Wars saga in the format.
Titanic director James Cameron is working on a movie called Avatar which will be released in 2009 only in 3D.
Jon Landau, who is working on the film as Cameron's producer, said: "We have to re-educate people. The in-theatre presentation of 3D is a quantum leap ahead of what it was even two years ago.
"The screen has always been a barrier for the audience's experience of the movie. Quality 3D removes that barrier. The screen disappears."
