The Illuminati

The Illuminati

The Illuminati is a secret society that was founded in Bavaria, Germany in 1776. It was created by Adam Weishaupt, a professor of Canon Law at the University of Ingolstadt. The group's purpose was to promote enlightenment thinking and free thought, and to oppose superstition and religious influence over public life. The Illuminati was also opposed to the power of monarchies and the Catholic Church, which it saw as obstacles to progress and liberty.

The Illuminati was a small organization, with only a few hundred members at its height. Its members included intellectuals, scholars, and writers, as well as some members of the nobility. The group's organizational structure was based on the concept of grades, with each member progressing through a series of degrees as they became more involved in the organization.

The Illuminati's goals were ambitious, and they sought to achieve them through a variety of means. They sought to influence the political and cultural elite through the use of secret networks and propaganda, and they also aimed to infiltrate and subvert existing institutions, such as the Church and Freemasonry.

Despite their lofty ideals, the Illuminati were a target of suspicion and persecution by the authorities of the time. They were accused of promoting atheism, immorality, and subversion, and were eventually banned by the Bavarian government in 1785.

In the years since their suppression, the Illuminati have become the subject of numerous conspiracy theories. Some people believe that the group survived its suppression and continues to operate in secret, working to achieve its goals of global domination and control. However, there is no evidence to support these claims, and they are generally dismissed by mainstream historians and scholars.

That’s very interesting. The Illuminati may or may not be alive and well, but I think the concept is a hook to drag a person down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories.
