Fibre, vs DSL and Cable Internet

Fibre-Optics

Fiber internet, also known as fiber optic internet, is a type of broadband internet that uses fiber-optic cables made of thin glass or plastic fibers to transmit data as pulses of light over long distances. The data travels at high speeds and is less susceptible to interference, making it a fast and reliable way to access the internet.

Fiber internet is much faster than cable and DSL internet because it can deliver much higher speeds. While cable and DSL internet can typically provide download speeds of up to 100-300 Mbps, fiber internet can provide download speeds of up to 10 Gbps (Gigabits per second), which is about 100 times faster than cable and DSL internet.

To achieve these speeds, the fiber optic cables need to be connected directly to your modem. If you have fiber to the home (FTTH), the fibrde optic cables will be connected directly to your home, and you'll need a fiber optic modem to receive the internet signal. If you have fiber to the node (FTTN), the fiber optic cables will be connected to a node or cabinet in your neighborhood, and a copper cable will be used to connect your home to the node. In this case, you'll need a VDSL modem to receive the internet signal.
