Barry Manilow secretly married longtime manager

Barry Manilow's marriage to longtime manager Garry Kief was so secret, it took almost a year before even the tabloids got wind of it.

The couple married at Manilow's home in Palm Springs last April, with about 20 to 30 guests attending what they thought was a lunch, People magazine reported Wednesday. The National Enquirer first reported the nuptials.

The ceremony was dubbed a commitment ceremony, and although Manilow, 71, and Kief, 66, exchanged rings, they reportedly never filed official paperwork for their marriage.

"Barry is paranoid that his fans would not approve of him being gay," a source reportedly told the National Enquirer, "when in reality, many have suspected it for years -- and most wouldn't care. They would be happy for him."

The ballad crooner known for hits such as "Mandy" and "Copacabana" has never publicly come out as gay.

It's Manilow's second marriage. Kief has a daughter and ex-wife, whom he reportedly left to be with Manilow.
