“WOE IS OZ” COMIC SERIES LAUNCHES KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN FOR GRAPHIC NOVEL PUBLICATION

Project aims to crowdsource funds to series continuation and publication of graphic novel.

Minneapolis, MN – August 10, 2012: Woe Is Oz, A comic series written and created by Ethan Tarshish and illustrated by Kelly Brown, launches a Kickstarter campaign at http://tinyurl.com/woeisoz, to raise funds for the publication of volume one of Woe Is Oz, a collection of the first six issues of the ongoing series. The series follows the continuing adventures of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, and other Oz favorites as they make brand new discoveries and take on all new threats.

The Woe Is Oz Book Project aims to have issues five and six completed by April, 2013 and the publication of volume one of the graphic novel to follow shortly after. “This funding is crucial,” says creator Ethan Tarshish, series writer and creator, “Because it will allow us to complete the first arc of our story. Avid and new readers alike have been eagerly anticipating the culmination of the first chapter and we are excited to give it to them.”

Woe Is Oz has been featured at CONvergence, Mars Con, and other prominent Midwest Comic Conventions. The series boasts an iPhone and Android App, and a robust following on facebook. You can find out more at www.woeisoz.com and www.facebook.com/woeisoz

“Woe Is Oz takes the story everyone is familiar with and continues forward down a darker road. This isn’t the tale of Oz most would expect, though it is sure to be one they are going to love,” says Tarshish.

Kickstarter, founded in 2009, is a crowdsourcing platform that helps creative projects come to life. The platform is powered by an all-or-nothing funding method; projects must hit their predetermined funding goal before any money changes hands.

To thank users for their contributions, Woe Is Oz has devised several tiers of rewards, ranging from signed issues and original art, to the opportunity of being a character in an upcoming issue.

Individuals can read about the project, view the pitch video and support the project AUGUST 10 through SEPTEMBER 14 at http://tinyurl.com/woeisoz.
