Is it REALLY HD?

HD X3

High-definition television (HDTV) is a digital television broadcasting system with greater resolution than traditional television systems (NTSC, SECAM, PAL). HDTV is digitally broadcast because digital television (DTV) requires less bandwidth if sufficient video compression is used.

To have an HD experience you need: An HD Capable TV, an HD Digital Reciever (With HD cables, either HDMI or Component Video) and HD Programming. Without these things you do not have HD.

Certain channels will still be non HD as they are not broadcast IN HD...Even some that are coming thru the Digital box are still analog. It is worth noting here that the sound will always be analog unless you choose HDMI cables as they are the only type that currentley have digital sound.

Many consumers do not take the appropriate steps to receive HD quality pictures on their televisions. For instance, if Composite or S-Video cables are used for connections from a cable box or satellite dish then only an non-HD quality picture will be seen. Only Component Video and HDMI cables are capable of carrying HD signals. HDMI provides the best picture and sound but are also generally more expensive than Component cables.
