My Dear 'OZ'ians,
The Russian led war against Ukraine is now in the 7th day. It looks like Kyiv may actually succumb to Russian control soon. My heart goes out to The Ukrainian people. You are showing Russia and indeed The World that you are strong. As I have mentioned before, The rest of The World stands with you, Ukraine.
I hope that the European Union vote to have you join their ranks. I wish you well in becoming part of NATO. The Russian bully will not have his way. Democracy will win out. You have fought strongly for democracy! You will reap the rewards. I say Russia won't win in the end. They will NOT erase Ukraine or the people of Ukraine. Your history will survive.
Putin (The little tsar of Russia) will not triumph over the people of Ukraine. The international sanctions are choking his armed forces, some I hear, short of even gas to fuel their equipment. I only hope that this agressor against democracy feels the full force of the sanctions, both economically and personally.
This war though is unfortunately not something the West is wanting to join (it would be very different if Ukraine was a part of NATO) - we do not want a war with Russia, as that could easily start a world war, with nuclear weapons ready on both sides. I have since heard that even in Russia, many, many of its citizens do not support Putin and the Invasion, (now a war), into Ukraine. More power to defeat the bullies of Russia!
That's all for now. I feel horrible for what Ukraine and it proud people are going through. Stay strong!
