My Dear 'OZ'ians,
As the unprovoked invasion and subsequent assaults on Ukraine and its citizens continues into its 4th week, I wanted to address some things.
1. The invasion and subsequent war was entirely unprovoked and should be referred to as "Putin's War", since it was he who started this war of choice.
2. The Western response of sanctions against Putin and the oligarchs are having an effect.
3. NATO's constant refusal to create a no fly zone over Ukraine, is something that all NATO countries need to be behind. If one NATO country attempts to enforce the airspace, and shoot down Russian jets, it will result into retaliation to that country(s), likely through targeted nuclear attacks.
4. Russian forces, including Putin himself should be and will be held accountable for the numerous war crimes being committed against the Ukrainian people.
5. The strength and resolve of the Ukrainian people is noted and revered by democratic countries all over The World.
6. Ultimately, Russia's superior numbers and number of weapons appear to be no match for the defense by the Ukrainian army and people.
7. Ultimately I see Russia having to accept what Ukraine has to offer in terms of terms for a ceasefire, with only an independent Ukraine, similar to Sweden, on the table. Sovereignty and borders are not to change. This means the only compromise Ukraine is making is that it will not join NATO.
8. In the end, Russia will lose, with a high cost to them in casualties and World respect and partnership, trade and everything else Putin has sacrificed for his unprovoked attack on Ukraine. -- all dashed due to Putin's War.
