Try fast.com, it's easy peasy, oh so breezy! Just type in fast.com and you will get a simple page showing your current speed. There is a button to show more detail such as ping time (latency) and the upload speed (much slower than download speed)
Note that the speed listed is the actual speed directly to your computer. In The Wizard's case I'm paying for 156Mbps, but don't get that due to the Ethernet cable, and a 10/100 Mbps Network Interface Card (NIC), that I am currently running with. You can actually achieve closer to actual speed offered by your ISP by using wireless.
