TV Terms

HOT SWITCH: When the ending of one show leads immediately into the beginning of another with no commercial break. Networks hope that viewers won’t change the channel and will stay tuned in for the next show.
BUG: A channel-identifying logo, usually placed in the corner of the screen.
BURNING OFF: When a show has been canceled but unaired episodes remain, a network may “burn them off”—show them with minimal fanfare during little-watched time slots or over the summer.
