Dear Love Doctor,
I am engaged to my boyfriend and love him dearly. However, I hate his mother. She is very picky and sometimes treats me demeaningly. I have tried to be nice to her, but invariably she hurts my feelings. I have asked my boyfriend to talk with her about it but he doesn’t see her do this. My question for you is what can I do here?
Signed,
On the rocks with mom
Dear Rocks,
Well really, you are not marrying his mother. But still you need to have a civil relationship with her. Do not let her interfere with you and your fiancee’s relationship. Ideally you should tell her about your feelings and have him in on the conversation with her. Your fiancee needs to stick by you if theis relationship is going to work. Again, speak with her together. Just do it before the wedding!
Good luck!
Hope this helps,
The Love Doctor
