COUNTY ANTRIM, NORTHERN IRELAND
A long the wild Antrim coast, the otherworldly Giant's Causeway is an easy day-trip from the capital city of Belfast. It's a strangely moving sight, a formation of sea-battered basalt crystals that appear like stone honeycombs or remnants of ancient columns, all formed by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago.
