Tykie's Comin Out - Jeffery Straker (2008) Step Right Up

This is my all time favourite song by Mr. Jeffery Straker. In it he describes the coming out of Tykie, (in school no less!), in a small town. I think Jeff truly captures the feeling that every gay guy has when he finally decides to come out of the closet, and damn what everyone else says. It is described as such a good feeling, and an exciting time for that person. It is truly a second coming of age, being comfortable enough to be who you are and to experience the 'gay life' honestly for the first time. It's like adolescence all over again, but with a MAJOR twist. You really have a hard time describing this, so Tykie's Comin Out truly does a fabulous job in trying to get the experience out there and share in its celebration.

Thank You, friend, for writing this song. And yes, I came out at 40, but as they say... "better late than never!", and I am very happy that the kids of today come out earlier and earlier and escape the prison, that the closet is.
