Parting Glances (1986)
For me this film about love and life in the early days of AIDS is simply time capsule-worthy. Deftly balancing humor and pathos as it toured the sights of gay New York (Limelight! Fire Island!) and tackled some of the most pressing gay issues of the day (caring for a sick former lover, commitment, aging with grace), Glances is one of the best gay films of its decade. Bonus: Stars a young Steve Buscemi as a man with HIV who uses humor as a shield, even against those he loves.
