Rochambeau, the “rock, paper, scissors” game, originated in Egypt in 2000 B.C.

 The game, played by “throwing” hand signs, traveled to Greece and then on to the Romans, where they called it Micatio. It was used to settle disputes over merchandise transactions in the forums and was so common in ancient Rome that there was a proverb to describe an honest person: Dignus est quicum in tenebris mices, which means: “Trustworthy enough to play Micatio in the dark with him.”
