New Texas Priest

A new priest, born and raised in Texas, comes to serve in a city parish and is nervous about hearing confessions, so he asks the older priest to sit in on his sessions.

The new priest hears a couple of confessions, then the old priest asks him to step out of the confessional for a few suggestions.

The old priest suggests, "Cross your arms over your chest, and rub your chin with one hand and try saying things like 'yes, I see,' and 'yes, go on,' and 'I understand.'

The new priest crosses his arms, rubs his chin with one hand and repeats all the suggested remarks to the old priest.

The old priest says, "Now, don't you think that's a little better than slapping your knee and saying, "No shit, what happened next?"

AUSTRALIAN DEFINITIONS OF A CANADIAN

(Fabulous compliment!)

Once in a while someone does a nice job of describing a Canadian; this time it was an Australian dentist You probably missed it in the local news, but there was a report that someone in Pakistan had advertised in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed a Canadian - any Canadian...

An Australian dentist wrote the following editorial to help define what a Canadian is, so they would know one when they found one.

A Canadian can be English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian Dutch, or Greek. A Canadian can be Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, Arab, Pakistani or Afghan. A Canadian may also be a Cree, Métis, Mohawk, Blackfoot, Sioux, or one of the many other tribes known as native Canadians. A Canadian's religious beliefs range from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu or none. In fact, there are more Muslims in Canada than in Afghanistan. The key difference is that in Canada they are free to worship as each of them chooses. Whether they have a religion or no religion, each Canadian ultimately answers only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

A Canadian lives in one of the most prosperous lands in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms which recognize the right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

A Canadian is generous and Canadians have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return. Canadians welcome the best of everything, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services and the best minds.

But they also welcome the least - the oppressed, the outcast and the rejected.

These are the people who built Canada. You can try to kill a Canadian if you must as other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world have tried but in doing so you could just be killing a relative or a neighbour. This is because Canadians are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, can be a Canadian.

Some Great Words

Found this in an SPAM email sent to me....

The point of living is to be alive. To experience being alive. You can't get the full experience unless you involve yourself fully and live in the life, but the point of the life is not the things that vex you, it's the experience of them. you, yourself, are an entity beyond this lifetime and these experiences, your job is to dive into the life and live it. We get full of expectation and taking things for granted. We load ourselves with the burden of directing our lives so that when something outside our direction or desiring happens we feel cheated.

Yet when something like this happens it's usually something we could never have orchestrated deliberately and yet which gives us an experience so deep and unique and poignant that we are gifted ultimately with a depth of feeling and learning that we hadn't had since childhood. You have the opportunity to learn a whole new life suddenly. Something happens to catastrophically change your world. It's upsetting, it's shattering, it's overwhelming, but it persists. As you persist as well eventually you overcome the challenge and learn to work around it or over it or with it instead of against it. Or all of that, and still resisting it as well.

Whether it's a sudden illness or disability or the total loss of your home to catastrophe, or the loss of your loved ones, it's a hardness humans have faced forever to some degree and it's made us so strong that we dominate our entire planet and even venture into it's satellites and neighbour planets with our machines.

Nobody but a balanced and loving power who wants us to be ground to a sparkle like fine diamonds would ever put us through these tragedies, so that is what happens, outside of your plans, within a greater plan for your spirit, to shine it and give it strength.

However you see the metaphysical world, whether by higher power or personal power, most people acknowledge the idea of the part of them they call "I" is enduring beyond the physical state. That part of us is what grows, learns, becomes wiser and gentler and more loving with the lessons we learn. With strength comes grace.

20 THINGS A GENTLEMAN SHOULD NEVER DO

Gentleman James Bond
“Being male is a matter of birth. Being a man is a matter of age. But being a Gentleman is a matter of choice.”

What you don’t do is as important as what you do, do. As your loyal provider of all things gentlemanly, we felt it our moral duty to impart some of our wisdom of what we believe a gentleman should never do…

1. WEAR SOMETHING ‘IRONICALLY’

Geek glasses, Hawaiian shirts, 80’s retro sportswear, you name it – a gentleman wouldn’t be seen dead in something purely for the sake of ‘irony’, leave this look to the likes of pop-up-store-come-vintage-clothing-come-speakeasy-bar-owners.

2. PIERCE ANY BODY PART

Do what you like in your teenage, ungentlemanly years, but beyond these rebellious times and into the years of being a gentleman, remove all trace of past rebellions and never, we repeat never, pierce a body part.

3. SIT WHILE A LESS ABLE PERSON STANDS

This is more common manners than anything else, but a gentleman would never sit (on a tube or otherwise) whilst a woman, less-able or elderly person stands.

4. BREAK THEIR WORD

A boy speaks, a gentleman acts on his word and stays true to it.

5. LIE

A real gentleman stays loyal, faithful and honest at all times.

6. SPEND MORE TIME IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR THAN THEIR OTHER HALF

Vanity is deeply ungentlemanly.

7. FORGET WHERE HE CAME FROM

No matter how much a gentleman earns, or how much success he has garnered, a real gentleman will stay humble to his past.

8. KISS AND TELL

Because a gentleman never tells.

9. GET DRUNK AT A WEDDING (ESPECIALLY YOUR OWN)

Someone once told me that there is nothing tackier than a drunk bride, but in retrospect this applies as much to gentlemen as it does to brides to be. A gentleman knows his limits.

10. BE TOO PROUD TO APOLOGISE

A true gentleman will apologise after a fight, even if he wasn’t in the wrong.

11. URINATE IN PUBLIC

Unless you’re an 18 year-old having his first beer, there is simply no excuse.

12. DRIVE RECKLESSLY WITH A WOMAN OR CHILD IN THE CAR

You are not clever or rebellious. You are dangerous, and not in the cool, ‘rebel without a cause’ way.

13. GET A TATTOO BEYOND THE AGE OF 21

Similar to number 2, it’s best to avoid this one too. If you did get drunk on a beach in Thailand and get your name in Arabic branded across your back, then consider keeping it covered up.

14. SIT CROSSED-LEGGED

Unless you’re doing Yoga, which is OK by the way, try and avoiding sitting like a child. There is just something strange about seeing a grown man sitting like a schoolboy.

15. REFER TO YOURSELF IN THE THIRD PERSON

Annoying doesn’t even begin to describe how unbecoming this is.

16. DRUNK TEXT/CALL

Not classy, just embarrassing. A gentleman does not need to be inebriated to communicate.

17. CANCEL AT THE LAST MINUTE

A real gentleman makes plans and sticks to them, no matter what.

18. SWEAR IN PUBLIC

A gentleman would never let his mood dictate his manners.

19. BELIEVE IN LUCK OR CHANCE

A gentleman knows the power of cause and effect.

20. PATRONISE

Your age does not define your maturity.

What were YOU thinking??

I was scared at first.
It was very wide,
and very long,
and it angled straight up.
I decided I had to try it once.
I slowly and carefully eased myself onto it.

It felt weird at first.
Then I got used to it.
I went up and down,
and up and down on it.
I was really loving it.

*Now I ride on escalators all the time.*

I took my fingers and slowly,
gently stretched it apart.
It was so pure and white.
I licked it once, twice...
I found I couldn't stop.
I licked it faster and faster, and harder.
I began to scrape my teeth against it.
There it was, in my mouth!
All sweet and creamy.

I was done.

*And I threw away the outsides of my Oreo cookies*

It was laying limp in my hand.
It was very long, kind of thin.
I slid it between my fingers
until I got to the end of it.

I was turning it on.
It became firm in my hands,
and the end was wet.
Then it got very hard

and began gushing out of the tip.

*Then I took the garden hose and watered the bushes.*

I knew it could be done.
I wanted to try
but I didn't know if I could do it.
I called my friend.
He said he knew how to do it
and would teach me.

He put his arms around me and started.
I watched nervously in the mirror.
He finally finished and pulled back slowly.

I felt relieved that it was over.

*I hate neckties.*

It looked warm and dark,
and juicy and inviting.
I wasn't sure just what
I wanted to do with it.
I carefully pulled it apart
with my fingers to look into it better.

I knew how great it would be
if I just started eating it.

*But I decided to put ketchup on my burger.*
