Chile's Lake District is known as the country's adventure capital, a major destination for boaters, water-sports enthusiasts, and sport fishermen. Rising above Lake Villarrica is the 9,341-foot snowcapped Villarrica Volcano, favored by hikers (and skiers in winter); at its base sits the town of Pucón, a popular center for year-round activity.
