True or False?

“Godfather of Soul” James Brown was raised in a brothel and served three years hard labor for breaking into a car.

TRUE! When James Brown was five, he went to live with his Aunt Honey, who ran a brothel in Augusta, Georgia. At 16, and already an accomplished pianist and singer, Brown was busted for breaking into a car and sentenced to 16 years hard labor. He was paroled early for good behavior, joined the Fabulous Flames, and was catapulted to stardom three years later upon the 1956 release of his first song, “Please Please Please.”
