The late Dave Thomas owned four Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises before opening his successful Wendy’s chain in 1969. With more than 5,000 Wendy’s restaurants worldwide, Thomas personally appeared in 800-plus commercials promoting his chain. Other notable promoters of Wendy’s include Clara Peller, who became an overnight sensation with the “Where’s the Beef?” ad campaign.
